President, Kathy Root
Member since 2015
Treasurer from 2017-2023
Elected President to begin term this year 2023!
"I have lived in the Adirondacks 1979-1981 and moved back when I retired. They say I have "blue line syndrome" because I'm sad when I travel outside the Blue Line. I love WCSC because our goals are focused: make money, give local scholarships, have fun."
-Kathy Root
“New to town back in 2003, I was looking for ways to meet people in the Community, put down roots and make new friends. I was introduced to the Club by long time member Pat Brown, and haven’t regretted a single minute of my involvement.”
Susan is committed to the Club’s mission “to enable local students to achieve their educational goals”; and at the same time she has found friends within a group of hard working, fun loving and dedicated women.

Vice President, Susan Mueller
Recording Secretary, Liz Harvey
Corresponding Secretary, Ginny Bartlett
"Having moved to Saranac Lake from Lake Placid in 2016, I was looking for an organization to join. Jean Stone, a member of WCSC and a friend, suggested attending a meeting with her.
What I found was a group of friendly and welcoming women. I immediately joined the group because of those attributes and their wonderful mission of raising money for scholarships for local students!
We're a group of socially aware and hard working women who know how to get the job done while having fun. I've been Corresponding Secretary since 2018 and love this organization."
-Ginny Bartlett
"Soon after moving from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Saranac Lake, my sister Ginny Bartlett, took me to the Fall Pot Luck dinner and meeting of the WCSC. Impressed by their mission to provide scholarships to students in the Saranac Lake area and by the friendliness of the members, I decided to join. The Recording Secretary position was empty and they needed a replacement.
I volunteered and have been in this position since 2020. Not only does WCSC give voice to their mission, but the membership as a whole supports the work, managing, even through Covid-19, to provide scholarships to our students. I am very proud to be a member of WCSC."
-Liz Harvey
Treasurer, Karen Morris
Fresh out of graduate school and recently married, Karen put down roots in the Adirondacks in 1982. After working 27 years as a school psychologist and raising a family she retired and was looking for ways to continue to be connected to the community.
Karen was invited to check out WCSC by a friend. She is thrilled to be part of such an awesome group of women dedicated to helping students and adult learners further their education.

”Born in Schenectady, NY, we moved to Saranac Lake in 2004 to help care for our grands. Pat Brown invited me to join WCSC soon after as our husbands were both Masons and they, too, met on the first Weds. of each month. While in the club, I have served as co-president with Carol Bodah, chair of NCCC Craft Fair and now chair of the Continuing Ed. committee. It’s been a great experience mostly because of the friendliness of the group!
- Elaine Holmlund

Originally from New York City. Living in Adirondacks 53 years! I have 2 kids, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren!"
- Ginny Cuttaia
”As a retired teacher, I wanted to be a part of this club, to help with fundraising which resulted in more educational scholarships and to help Saranac Lake high school students and adults wishing to return to an educational pursuit achieve their goals.
My involvement has been a true gift as I have met and worked with 42 incredible women who all have a specialty to share with others. Fun, yes we have fun. This is an amazing group and I feel honored to be a part of the Club"
