"Having been a member of WCSC for 45 years, I truly appreciate the wonderful service this organization provides to our local residents. What a wonderful group of ladies we have working together to raise money so we can award meaningful scholarships to worthy applicants. These lovely ladies are caring and hard working, and I'm proud to be a member alongside them.

I moved here in 1973 with my husband to teach at Paul Smith's College in the hospitality and culinary program. After I had my first son in 1977 and then my triplets in 1980, I was too busy to join any clubs. However, after one of my sons received a scholarship from the club, I decided to check it out. I have been hooked ever since. I love what we do and how we do it. My favorite fund-raising event is WCSC's food concession and bake sale at the North Country Community College Craft Fair the week before Thanksgiving

& Membership

“New to town back in 2003, I was looking for ways to meet people in the Community, put down roots and make new friends. I was introduced to the Club by long time member Pat Brown, and haven’t regretted a single minute of my involvement.”
Susan is committed to the Club’s mission “to enable local students to achieve their educational goals”; and at the same time she has found friends within a group of hard working, fun loving and dedicated women.

"Having moved to Saranac Lake from Lake Placid in 2016, I was looking for an organization to join. Jean Stone, a member of WCSC and a friend, suggested attending a meeting with her.
What I found was a group of friendly and welcoming women. I immediately joined the group because of those attributes and their wonderful mission of raising money for scholarships for local students!
We're a group of socially aware and hard working women who know how to get the job done while having fun. I've been Corresponding Secretary since 2018 and love this organization."

- Ginny Bartlett

"Soon after moving from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Saranac Lake, my sister Ginny Bartlett, took me to the Fall Pot Luck dinner and meeting of the WCSC. Impressed by their mission to provide scholarships to students in the Saranac Lake area and by the friendliness of the members, I decided to join. The Recording Secretary position was empty and they needed a replacement.
I volunteered and have been in this position since 2020. Not only does WCSC give voice to their mission, but the membership as a whole supports the work, managing, even through Covid-19, to provide scholarships to our students. I am very proud to be a member of WCSC."

"I have lived in the Adirondacks 1979-1981 and moved back when I retired. They say I have "blue line syndrome" because I'm sad when I travel outside the Blue Line. I love WCSC because our goals are focused: make money, give local scholarships, have fun."

Mack grew up around the North Country in some great areas before her family settled in Bloomingdale where really felt a sense of home and community. She loves working along side the SL WCSC ladies and finds them to be the most welcoming, compassionate, and funny group!

High School Scholarships, Christy Fontana

We move to Saranac Lake in 1986. I stayed home and cared for my four children and many others until my youngest started school. I then worked at the Saranac Lake Free Library until 2020. I am honored to be a member of WCSC and the SLVFD.

Christy Fontana

As a retired teacher, I wanted to be a part of this club, to help with fundraising which resulted in more educational scholarships and to help Saranac Lake high school students and adults wishing to return to an educational pursuit achieve their goals.
My involvement has been a true gift as I have met and worked with 42 incredible women who all have a specialty to share with others. Fun, yes we have fun. This is an amazing group and I feel honored to be a part of the Club"

- Sandy Campbell

"Higher education brought me to Saranac Lake in 2017 to work at Paul Smith’s College. I returned to college myself while in my 30’s and local scholarships helped make that dream possible!

I was encouraged to join by Sandy Campbell and was hooked at the first meeting. The mission and history of the club is so important but the community spirit within the group is what truly shines!"
